April 20 was chosen as Chinese Language Day, “to pay tribute to Cang Jie, a mythical figure who is presumed to have invented Chinese characters.

"20 de abril foi escolhido como Dia da Língua Chinesa", para prestar homenagem a Cangjie, uma figura mítica que se presume ter inventado os caracteres chineses.

Cangjie 倉 頡 (simplificado: 仓 颉) é uma figura lendária da China antiga (2650 aC), conhecido como um herói cultural, ministro do Imperador Amarelo (黃帝) é o inventor dos caracteres chineses. Ele é definido em muitos escritos por ter uma notável visão e criatividade. Na mitologia taoísta sua figura se destaca como tendo quatro olhos e nasceu com o dom da escrita.

Zao Shang Hao－Good Morning 早上好！
Say Zao Shang Hao (good morning) loud and crisp as you meet your friends for Tai Chi practice in the morning.

Chi le ma?- Have you eaten? 吃了么？
It is suitable to ask this question anytime after lunch time. This is the equivalent of “how are you?”. A friend with full stomach is a happy friend!

Gan ma ne?- What’s up? 干嘛呢？
Check on your friends and see if they want to hang out. Otherwise, it’s a casual way to check if they have a moment to talk too.

Ge mer- Brother 哥们儿
Can be used to addressed your male friends, and in combination with of any of the above, for example, “Ge Mer, Chi le ma?” Would mean have you eaten, my brother?

Mei nv/Shuai Ge- Beautiful/handsome 美女／帅哥
Pay your close friends a compliment as you greet them, can be used in combination with any of the above greetings, for example, “Gan Ma Ne, Mei Nv?” would certainly bring a smile to your close female friends.
